With over 125,000+ websites created per day all over the world, it’s getting harder and harder for website owners to attract and retain new readers. Aside from competing in the Google search results, there’s a totally different issue most website owners face – they have no idea how to keep a visitor on their site – let alone get them to buy something!
They need help to increase traffic and sales – this is where you come in.
“Words are the true currency of the web. Without good website content, the site may as well not even exist.”
I read this from a well known copywriter a few years back, and boy is it true! Even more so now then 10 years ago given the sheer amount of websites that are competing for the top 10 spots on the first page of Google. If a website has poor content, what does that say about their product or service? Not much, and visitors will simply click back and move on to the next website on the list.
Here’s another important fact to keep in mind…
When people search the web and click through to a web page, it takes just 5 seconds for a visitor to decide if they should stay or move on. What do they do within this short 5 second time span? They scan the webpage for headlines and the first paragraph of content to see if the rest is worth reading. If the headline (title) and the first paragraph fail to pull the reader into the rest of the article, they’ll simply click away to the next website.
That’s why it’s very important to make sure your headlines and first few sentences within your articles and blog posts are engaging and provide value to the reader.
Let’s have a look at a few good examples of websites that do a stellar job of keeping readers engaged…
